A Sweet Beginning: Amalie & Cristian’s Engagement Session at Sylas & Maddy’s in Lawrence, Kansas

When Amalie and Cristian told me they wanted their engagement photos at Sylas & Maddy’s Ice Cream Shop in Lawrence, Kansas, I knew instantly this was going to be a session full of meaning, nostalgia, and heart-melting sweetness. This was more than a cute backdrop…it’s where they had their very first date.

It was so sweet to hear them reminisce while we waited on a perfect early Sunday afternoon for the ice cream shop to open. We decided to get some cute shots outside, and I am glad we did. They're some of my favorites.

Nestled right off Mass Street, Sylas & Maddy’s is one of the most iconic ice cream shops in Lawrence. It’s lively and packed with personality that feels old-fashioned. A perfect setting for engagement photos that feel authentic, joyful, and deeply personal.

They were so cute that a street photographer stopped to help me block reflections in the window and wanted to take a picture of their session as it was happening.
